Niger’s Gorou Banda power plant was inaugurated by the country’s president, Mahamadou Issoufou, on April 16. The plant, at a cost of 75 billion CFA, is now the largest power plant in the country with a capacity of 100 MW.

Construction on the plant began in April 2013 and was financed by the government with the support of the West African Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank.

Work on the project was carried out by China’s Synohydro and Tbea.
