Eskom Shuts Down Nuclear Unit for Maintenance

South Africa’s Koeberg nuclear plant saw one of its units shut down for scheduled maintenance work, according to state utility Eskom.

 

Unit 2 of the nuclear plant was shut down on April 17 for a scheduled refueling outage after a record 492 days of uninterrupted operation. Unit 2 is expected to be back to operation in May.

 

Koeberg Unit 1 is currently operating optimally and is contributing 930 MW to the national grid.
