The Kanf Electronics Group, in partnership with Sunna Design and Libre Energie, has begun marketing of solar streetlight kits in Niger’s capital Niamey. Kanf Electronics group CEO Kanfeni Mamadou said the equipment is, "manufactured to European standards" and will help improve the capacity of the public, para-public and private services of the country, and hence the living conditions of the population, especially those living in rural areas.
The representative of the Minister of Energy, Bouhari Boukar noted that the kits will boost "the use of solar energy for the satisfaction of [our] energy needs."
Boukar added that the government has adopted a National Electricity Access Strategy, which is aimed at the electrification of the country and achieving an electricity access rate of 80% by 2035.
