Petromac Goes to Mozambique Biodiesel

Petromoc has produced its millionth liter of biodiesel in collaboration with four Mozambique companies. a pilot production union, on its project Ecomoz. The unit was constructed to have a capacity of 40 million liters of biodiesel per year.

The Ecomoz Project started operating two years ago, and uses copra oil acquired in Inhambane province in Southern Mozambique, as a raw material, but also occasionally makes use of palm oil.

The chief executive of the Ecomoz Project, Nuno de Oliveira, said that production of the first million liters was reached in the first half of March.

According to de Oliveira, “One of the main constraints is the supply of raw materials (vegetable oils) at accessible prices, which requires incentives to production that allow for the regular supply of the unit.”
