Algeria to Install 4GW of Solar PV

According to a statement released by Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad, the North African country plans to install around 4 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. The renewable power produced under “TAFOUK1” will be used for meeting increased demand in the country as well for export customers.

TAFOUK1, falls under the government’s plan to boost power generation from renewable energy sources and will require investments of between $3.2 billion and $3.6 billion. Additional benefits will see 56,000 jobs created during the construction phase and 2,000 jobs during the operational stage, officials said.
