Lotus Energy Snags Contract for Ethiopia’s $3 Billion RE Project

Lotus Energy Cooperative out of Australia has entered into a mega contract that covers solar power, waste-to-energy and storage projects in Ethiopia, valued at $3 billion.

According to reporting by the Australian Financial Review (AFR), the complex in the Tigray region, which will have at least 500 MW of solar parks according to the report, will power operations of Ethiopian conglomerate EFFORT Group under a 30-year deal and construction could start as early as September. The firm’s CEO Anthony Vippond told AFR that this project would create the largest microgrid globally.
