In a media release, steel giant ArcelorMittal announced it is inviting the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) in South Africa to participate in a request for information process for the supply and management of several photovoltaic power plants at its operating sites.
The South African subsidiary of ArcelorMittal will enter into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) covering its six facilities at Vanderbijl park, Newcastle, Vereeniging, Pretoria, Thabazimbi and Saldanha, for the selected contractor (s) to build, own and operate several photovoltaic power plants.
The deadline for IPPs to express their interest is August 28, 2020.
