Suzlon Next to Enter South African Wind Sector

International wind power equipment maker Suzlon Energy has announced that it was expanding its operations into South Africa and South America, with future prospects to be in Canada and Europe.

Suzlon Energy CMD Tulsi Tanti said, "We would raise the manufacturing capacity of our equipment to support power generation of 5,700 MW by June this year, from the current 4,000 MW, and it would be sufficient for 2009 and 2010."

Although the global economic meltdown will lead to a fixed revenue for 2009, Tanti said the industry’s future growth would either maintain a status quo or have a negative growth of 5%.

The company has a manufacturing base in India, China, and the US with operations in 21 countries throughout the world.
