Mauritius: A Renewables Haven

Mauritius is increasing its renewable energy sector by creating a solution to problems that were lingering with the country’s ability to control its high energy demand for cooling off data centers. The Mauritius Land Based Oceanic Industry Park (LBOI), set to be complete by the end of 2009, will help combat this problem by providing renewable cooling energy through the use of deep sea water cooling technology.

The project is estimated to cost $20 million, but the park is expected to provide significant appeal for data center operators wishing to offer clean-energy services to their users.
