Libya’s GECOL Embarks on 200 MW Solar Project

State-held General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced that it has signed a solar purchase agreement with EG Alternative Energies to implement the Ghadames Solar Energy Project with a planned production capacity of 200 MW.

The solar power facility will be located 650 km from the capital Tripoli. The project falls under the plans of the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya to integrate renewable energies to increase power production and distribution.
