Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla and Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad were on hand to open an experimental smart treatment plant for industrial wastewater at the production site of Al-Amal Oil Company, a first-of-its-kind facility in Egypt and the Middle East.
The station is estimated to process 1,000 cubic meters per day using the latest technologies in advanced triple processing (physical, chemical and biological) technologies as well as water filtration and the station costs $8 million.
The facility is designed to reduce the environmental footprint, conserve resources and protect the environment. Minister Fouad said that 80% of the petroleum companies are carrying out environmental sanitation plans based upon the environmental compatibility strategy initiated by President El Sisi and adopted by the two ministries.
