ENER-G Offers Top Grads Role in Carbon Sector

These days, graduating from university does not mean instant success when finding a job. In fact, many graduates end up taking an unexpected career path altogether as competition, beginning salary base pay, and simply the difficulty in obtaining that first job proves to be a great feat.

One renewable energy technology company is making an effort to alleviate those hardships while securing its future by investing in recent graduates.

ENER-G has started a program that offers graduates jobs in the renewable energy sector. The company, based in Manchester, has four main business areas: Energy Management, which uses intelligent controls and technologies in buildings to deliver savings and lower emissions; Cogeneration which involves the design, manufacture, installation and operation of combined heat and power plant to efficiently generate electricity, heating and cooling; Renewable Energy that taps the natural heat from the earth to provide heating and cooling systems for buildings, and harnesses biogas from anaerobic digestion, landfill and other sources to produce ‘green’ energy; and Energy from Waste – using advanced thermal conversion technology to create an environmentally friendly alternative to landfill and incineration.

It is anticipated that the RE sector is one of the few areas in the UK that will maintain a positive growth during the recession, expected to grow by over 4% by 2015.

“Industries in the ‘green’ sector are chiefly engineering-based, requiring traditional engineering disciplines and this is the founding principle of our graduate development program,” ENER-G group managing director Derek Duffill said. “It also gives [graduates] an opportunity to design, develop, manufacture, and operate the technologies that can make such a positive difference to society on a global level.”
