Sanyo Sees Green on its Screen

Sanyo is set to invest $2 billion on clean energy technologies not just for the short term, but for longevity too, according to the company’s Gulf head of operations Takashi Hirao. The executive told Emirates Business that the company is looking to boost business opportunities in Africa.

Hirao said that renewable energy could play an even larger part of its distribution. He said that he thought by 2010, it would have grown even more within Sanyho. “The decision to put the Irena headquarters in Abu Dhabi shows how keen the Abu Dhabi government is in promoting sustainable energy and solar energy is one of them.”

He also said that Sanyo would continue efforts to be a carbon-neutral company – the company has committed to reduce 20 million tons of carbon dioxide.
