Red Cap Energy has announced the financial close of the Impofu Wind Farms located on the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Construction of the farm will get underway this month, with an expected operational start up in 2025.
The upcoming Impofu Wind Farms project will boast 57 turbines, each generating 5.9 MW of clean energy. Each turbine is proudly supported by locally produced concrete towers standing tall at 120 meters. With a blade length of 81.5 meters and a whopping 163-metre diameter, these turbines embody our commitment to harnessing wind power for a cleaner, brighter future.
The project was originally conceived a decade ago, but according to Red Cap, “the journey of developing the Impofu Wind Farms has been long and filled with setbacks, from having to reroute plans to protect Martial Eagles, to the delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“At times, it felt like we were chasing rainbows. It is incredibly rewarding to know all our hard work has paid off. Above all, we are grateful for the opportunity the extended process gave us to forge lasting connections with the community in Kouga, Eastern Cape.”
