WFES Kicks Off Today




The World Future Energy Summit is kicking off today in Abu Dhabi, and many key industry leaders as well as world leaders are expected to attend. More than 98 government delegations including heads of states in addition to over 1,400 corporate CEOs will be present to discuss various topics regarding renewable energy.

 

The World Future Energy Summit, hosted by Masdar, is a global collaborative platform bringing together world leaders, international policy makers, industry Influencers, investors, academia, thought leaders and journalists from over 130 countries to identify practical and sustainable solutions to today’s energy security, environment and climate change challenges.

 

The opening ceremony will consist of speeches from world leaders including the Presidents of Greece and the Maldives, the Prime Ministers of Turkey and Malaysia; H.R.H the Crown Prince of Spain and H.R.H the Crown Prince of Denmark

Government Ministers from North America, Europe, Asia, Middle East, and Africa will lead the first plenary session of the upcoming summit, where they will discuss the actions necessary to balance the demands the world is facing between an economic and social need to boost energy infrastructure to fuel economic growth and environmental imperatives that must be met to ensure sustainability.

Other sessions this year include discussions around the outcomes of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, the business case for renewable energy, the latest technologies in renewable power generation, the emerging industry in carbon capture and storage, and the growing prospects for employment in the future energy sector.

There is also an increased level of participation from developing nations such as India, China, Malaysia, Nigeria, Uganda, and Ghana.
