World Future Energy Summit Inaugurated by H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces
· 3,000 people attended Summit’s opening session

Hosted by Masdar, the World Future Energy Summit was today inaugurated by H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The Opening Ceremony took place, with energy experts all gathered with the single goal of identifying practical and sustainable solutions for today’s energy security, environment and climate change challenges.
More than 3,000 people attended the opening ceremony today, with speeches being delivered by H.E. President Karolos Papoulias, President of Greece; H.E. Mohamed Nasheed, President of the Maldives; H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister, Turkey, H.E. the Honourable Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister, Malaysia; H.R.H The Crown Prince Felipe de Borbón y Grecia, Crown Prince of Spain and Prince of Asturias; H.R.H The Crown Prince Frederik André Henrik Christian, Denmark; Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Chief Executive Officer, Masdar.
The opening session was attended by political leaders, CEOs, academic experts and members of the Young Future Energy Leaders program.

The World Future Energy Summit, a global collaborative platform, promoting innovation and investment opportunities in renewable energy and the environment, has an extensive program of more than 20 plenary forums parallel breakout sessions that will discuss the needs of the public and private sectors, in renewable energy. Topics stretch from sustainable development to banking and investment, research and development, environmental planning and power generation and distribution.
Running parallel are the World Future Energy and Environment Exhibitions at which visitors can meet with more than 600 exhibitors from 50 countries. The world’s latest innovations, solutions and services in Solar, Wind, Bio Fuels, Waste Management, Energy Efficiency, Water Treatment and Sustainable Development are being showcased.
Visitors can register and attend the exhibition for free, and witness the latest innovations in the energy and environment.
More than 98 official delegations are present at the Summit. National pavilions will include Australia, Belgium, China, Italy, India, South Korea, Spain, Germany, USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Netherlands, Japan, Taiwan, Norway and France.
