New Zealand will showcase the latest developments in harnessing ocean power to produce electricity at the 4th conference organized by the Aotearoa Wave & Tidal Energy Association (AWATEA) from April 19-20 in Te Papa.
AWATEA chairman Nick Eldred said the level of interest from home and overseas has been outstanding and reflects recognition that New Zealand’s tidal currents and wave patterns offer excellent conditions for renewable marine energy projects.
Currently, five New Zealand projects have reached various stages of development including Crest Energy (Kaipara Harbour), Neptune Power (Cook Strait), Wave Energy Technology – New Zealand (Lyttelton), Energy Pacifica (Tory Channel), and Chatham Islands Marine Energy.
Delegates from around the world will be present representing Overseas delegates will be coming from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, UK, Ireland, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Canada, US, South Africa, Australia, Korea, and China.
