On the heels of the announcement that China would loan Kenya Sh7.5 billion to finance its geothermal sector, more news comes of its involvement in East Africa. Now, China Crescent Enterprises, Inc. and US-based Nova Energy, Inc. have announced discussions set to begin May 24 in order to determine proper deployment to market Chinese technology products in East Africa.
Nova technology managers from Nairobi are scheduled to travel to Shanghai to meet with China Crescent‘s technology partners to include Huawei and Lenovo. The US company is trying to venture into many areas in East Africa starting with Kenya, including technology, utility, housing, and health products.
While Asia’s involvement in Africa appears to be the talk of the town, other companies are looking for strategic partnerships in order to explore Africa’s renewable energy potential. "Africa is emerging as a significant frontier for growth in the current economic climate,” notes Frost & Sullivan corporate communications manager Patrick Cairns.
