Revonergy to Develop Waste-to-Energy Plant in Nigeria

Revonergy Inc. has announced that it won the rights to develop and own a wood waste-to-energy (WTE) project in Ondo State, Nigeria.

The 14 MW project will use wood waste from an assortment of sawmills as fuel to generate electricity. A MoU with the state government has been completed in addition to a fuel supply study and full feasibility study. The company has also received approval for a clean development mechanism from the UN.

The WTE plant is expected to cost about $30 million, but it is uncertain when the project will be complete. "A very significant amount of development has already taken place on the Ondo Project. We are now ready to proceed to the next phase, which consists of securing power purchase agreements, identification of a local partner and bringing the project to a financial and technical close," states Ravi Daswani, CEO and President of Revonergy.
