Japan and Tunisia Undertake Solar Project

Japan and Tunisia have announced an agreement to undertake a solar power generation project.

The project is part of the Tunisian government’s 2010-2016 plan to incorporate more renewable energy into its total energy generating capacity. The facility will host research by Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization as well as operate as a power generation facility.

Tadahiro Matsushita, vice minister of economy, trade and industry who is visiting the North African country, and Mohamed Nouri Jouini, Tunisia’s minister of development and international cooperation, signed an agreement to construct a 5-MW light-harvesting facility for solar heat, the Japanese government said.
