India and Egypt are looking to build stronger relations and sign six pacts in September ranging from energy and technology to maritime transport and agriculture.
India’s External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna will visit Cairo in September to conduct talks with his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Abul Gheit. During the visit, Krishna also plans to launch the North African hub of the e-learning center of the Pan African e-network at Alexandria University.
Indian investments in Egypt are estimated to be around $2 billion in areas such as IT and the hydrocarbon sector including top Indian companies planning large investments like Essar, Reliance, and Tata group. All major IT companies have set up offices in Egypt, and are looking to increase their North African foothold.
