SA Looks to 5,000 MW Solar Park

South Africa is considering building a 5,000-MW solar park that could cost $21.6 billion, according to government spokesman Themba Maesko.

Feasibility studies are currently underway by the Department of Energy and the US-based Clinton Initiative in the Northern Cape which could lead to the park being built in 2012. "As soon as the feasibility study is completed…it would be presented to an investo’rs conference to test the appetite of investors to actually support an initiative of this nature," Maseko said.
