Gabon is attempting to get a 36-MW hydropower plant underway in the northern part of the country at the Okano River. The United Bank for Africa Plc’s subsidiaries UBA Gabon and UBA Capital are working with the Company for the Development of Renewable Energy (CODER) and Gabon’s Ministry of Energy for the project.
The 36-MW hydropower proposal will help out another CODER project, the Imperatrice Dam, to generate electricity as part of a 30-year concession package that was enacted in May. The project is estimated to cost about $234 million, and is expected to be completed in three years.
