Uganda: New Waste-to-Energy Power Plant

Uganda is set to get its first major renewable energy project with $160 million to build a waste-to-energy power plant from US-based Taylor Biomass Energy LLC’s subsidiary Taylor Biomass Energy Uganda (TBEU).

The plant, generating 40 MW of energy, will take about two years to complete creating 400 jobs. TBEU said in a statement, "The project will save the environment about 3 million tons of greenhouse gaseous emissions annually. An additional 1,100 indirect jobs will also be created."
