Tata Power and Sunengy to Build $1M Solar Plant in India

India’s largest private sector power utility Tata Power and Aussie firm Sunengy will build a $1-million solar power plant in India.

Construction is expected to begin in August with Sunengy Chairman Peter Wakeman saying that the company will help develop low-cost solar technology which will see solar panels floating on water.

Tata Power Executive Director Banmali Agrawala said that this project will utilize the surface of water to mount cells on floating panels, instead of a frame. The project is aimed to be eco-friendly and low-cost so that it can also garner the attention of the general public.
