Interconnectivity Ready for Ethiopia’s Neighbors

The Ethiopian Electric Power Corp. (EEPCo) has completed installation of power transmission lines that stretch to Sudan and Djibouti. The East African country has an initial agreement to supply 200 MW of power to Djibouti, 500 MW to Kenya, and 200 MW to Sudan.

The power will begin flowing to Ethiopia’s neighbors as soon as its latest hydrodams, currently under construction, are completed. In addition, the country is considering a 26-km undersea transmission line for exporting electricity to Yemen via Djibouti.
