Not only are renewable energy products hitting all time highs, the earnings for those in the industry aren’t looking too bad either. According to SimplyHired.com, the average salary in the renewable energy industry is $61,000. The salary is based on a variety of components including company, location, industry, experience, and benefits.
The Silicon Valley-based employment search engine calculated the salary statistics by using the average salary for all jobs with the term “renewable energy” anywhere in the job listing.
In Alternative Energy Africa’s search on SimplyHired, we typed in the keywords “renewable energy” and searched jobs posted in the past week. Our first 10 listings were:
· Renewable Energy Project Specialist, Weston & Sampson located in Rocky Hill, Connecticut (salary N/A)
· Renewable Power Trader, Southern California Edison located in Rosemead, California (salary N/A)
· Civil Engineers for Wind Power Project, Freelance Recruiter located in Washington DC (salary N/A)
· Account Executive for Renewable Energy/Carbon Brokers, Associated Renewable, Inc. located in New York City (salary between $80,000-$125,000)

Our search for renewable energy jobs only pulled up the US. And while trying to narrow down our hunt, we hit a roadblock as the tabs along the left side (job type, education, and experience) did not work. In addition, the “USA” setting at the top under location was unable to be changed. While we wanted to do a more accurate portrayal of the increase in renewable energy jobs as well as the desirable salaries, SimplyHired did note that since September 2009, renewable energy job listings has increased by 6%.
This trend is expected to grow as more research and development continues to propel the sector increasing manufacturing and production, carrying over into distribution, and all of that representing more job opportunities.
