Gehrlicher Solar realizes four rooftop systems (3.1 MWp) in the administrative district of Wittenberg
The systems installed on the roofs of the agricultural company Seydaland annually produce 2.2 million kilowatts of solar electricity.
Dornach near Munich. Gehrlicher Solar AG has realized photovoltaic rooftop systems with a total power of 3.1 MWp at four sites in the administrative district of Wittenberg, Saxony-Anhalt. These were implemented on the premises of Seydaland Vereinigte Agrarbetriebe GmbH & Co. KG and cover an overall area of 30,957 square meters. The photovoltaic systems were unveiled to the public on May 1, 2011 during an open house event.
The systems are located at Seydaland’s administration site as well as on the roofs of the company’s warehouse, production hall and barns in Seyda. They were connected to the electrical grid between August and December 2010. The systems annually produce a total of around 2.2 million kilowatt hours of solar electricity, which can satisfy the needs of roughly 630 three-person households.
Seydaland Vereinigte Agrarbetriebe GmbH & Co. KG is both owner and operator. Jens Fromm, CEO of Seydaland, is very pleased with the result: "As a company that stands for sustainable agriculture, it is very important to us to contribute our part in supplying electricity generated from renewable sources. We have therefore decided to operate photovoltaic systems alongside biogas plants. Gehrlicher Solar AG has proven to be an excellent partner for the design, planning, and construction of these systems."
According to Steffen Licht, Head of the Rooftop Business Unit at Gehrlicher Solar, this project illustrates the large potential that photovoltaic systems continue to have in Germany: "Many agricultural businesses dispose of huge roof areas that are especially well-suited for photovoltaic electricity generation. We are pleased that Seydaland has commissioned us to realize this major project. The result speaks for itself."
