Africa Electricity Event hits Joburg

Release

Africa Electricity, the sister event to the world-renowned Middle East Electricity exhibition, is launching on 15-17th November at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa. Encompassing the power, lighting, new and renewable, nuclear and water sectors, the event will provide a platform for representatives to discuss how to achieve universal access to the grid to fulfill forecasted residential, industrial and commercial energy requirements.

Currently, 55% of South Africa’s rural population does not have access to electricity. Shortages in electricity are largely due to system inefficiencies and transmission losses, all of which are planned to be upgraded. The government, along with Eskom one of the largest utilities in the world, are aiming to provide universal access to electricity. A $50 billion investment to overhaul the current system is being implemented and as such South Africa is experiencing an explosion in its energy sector, which will include investments not only in power plants, but also in wind, hydro, solar, nuclear and energy efficiency projects.

Africa Electricity represents the ideal platform to tap into new projects and provide much-needed knowledge at this crucial time, bringing together international manufacturers, solution providers and suppliers to meet with senior representatives from regional utilities, government agencies and contractors to network and identify opportunities in this rapidly growing energy market.

Anita Mathews, exhibition director for Africa Electricity, said, “Our customers expressed a desire to enter this market and we have responded to their needs and those of the African energy industry to provide a platform which brings the relevant parties together. The show has gathered an overwhelming response from international manufacturers and solution providers who either cater to or plan to enter this huge market sector.”

Africa Electricity is brought to you by the team behind the hugely successful Middle East Electricity exhibition and conference.
