Second Wind Systems has supplied its Triton SoDAR instrument for wind resource measurement to the Naval Facilities Command (NAVFAC) at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti. Triton will be used to assess the wind resource potential for US bases to evaluate whether the use of wind turbine generators for base energy generation is a viable option.
Second Wind also certified NAVFAC staff in field operations at the factory and will be responsible for the equipment during its five-year deployment. The NAVFAC renewable energy team is evaluating the facilities as part of the navy’s goal to incorporate at least 50% of its total energy generation via alternative energy sources by 2020.
Alternative Energy Africa is trying to reduce its own carbon footprint in 2011. Ask about our electronic subscriptions and online marketing campaigns specially tailored for individual companies.
