Top Investor in Africa’s Solar Power

Africa’s hydropower sector isn’t the only renewable energy field getting recognition from China. Businesses from the Asian country are the top investors in Africa’s solar industry, and the government has set $100 million aside to be put forth for more solar projects spanning over 40 African nations.

Most recently, Chinese firm Mascot International Group announced that it would establish a manufacturing plant for various renewable energy products including solar systems in Ghana. China also helped provide solar geysers in Zambia with its largest solar panel maker Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. working on supplying portable solar power systems for UN peacekeeping missions across the continent.

Various other initiatives have been started by Chinese companies and the ever present Chinese influx on the continent is obvious.
