New Thermal Centrals for Angola

The Angolan cities of Kuito, Saurimo, and Luena are set to have their electricity production systems reinforced with the installation of new thermal centrals. According to an article in Angop, the contracts for the supply, installation, and supervision of the new thermal centrals have been approved by the government and signed by the National Electricity Company.

The Kuito thermal central comprises four diesel generators with a 10 MW installed capacity. The term of contract for implementation of the project awarded to TSE (Techniques Specials a L’Export) is for 30 months at a value of $19.7 million. TSE also won the tender at Saurimo where the central will be equipped with three diesel generators, totaling 7.5 MW, with a value estimated at $15.9. Three diesel generators with a total installed capacity of 7.5 MW will be installed in the Luena central by Jembas – Assistência Técnica, Lda, at a cost of $17.2 million.
