Flabeg and partner Schlaich Bergermann has introduced a new technology that will cut costs for CSP plants by 25%.
The Ultimate Trough® will be used for large solar fields ranging from 500,000-2,500,000 sq meters. A larger diameter of heat collection materials, supported by selective coatings with lower emission levels, allows the solar field design to have lower parasitic consumption and less piping. The number of drives, sensors, and controls is reduced by 50% compared to other troughs.
“With this new collector development Flabeg makes CSP technology more competitive,” business development manager Paul Nava said. The product will be tested for a demonstration project in the US during H1 2012 to showcase its heightened performance.
