The construction of the Bughoye Power Dam in Uganda has come to a halt as the company contracted to build the project, NOREMCO, has suspended work. NOREMCO called a halt to construction after local workers were arrested for stealing fuel.
Andrew Maup, the general manager, told reporters that a driver was arrested trying to sell 300 liters of fuel.
The construction stoppage is only temporary Maup said as the company is now looking for a new crew of what was termed “honest workers.” The hiring of local labor is part of NOREMCO’s contract with district leadership to build the power dam.
