UNEP Discussing Policy Implications for Emissions Gap

The United Nations Environment Program’s (UNEP’s) “Bridging the Emissions Gap” report, released prior to the COP 17 held in Durban, South Africa, outlines the road to deliver additional cuts needed which will be discussed in a side event at COP 17 on December 1.

The UNEP convened 55 scientists and experts from 28 scientific groups across 15 countries. The report first reviews and summarizes the latest scientific studies of the gap, then tackles the question – How can the gap be bridged? – by examining the issue from a variety of perspectives. The result is a rich body of information on how to plausibly bridge the emissions gap in 2020 and beyond.
