2008 FT-WEC Energy Leaders Summit Announced

THE WORLD ENERGY COUNCIL AND FINANCIAL TIMES ANNOUNCE 2008 FT-WEC ENERGY LEADERS SUMMIT

LONDON: 4 April 2008: The Financial Times and the World Energy Council (WEC) announced today that the first annual FT–WEC Energy Leaders Summit will be taking place in London on September 16th and 17th 2008. The two day summit, to be held at The Cumberland in London, will examine the issue of Investment opportunities in Clean Energy Businesses.

Harnessing the knowledge of players on the frontlines of the energy debate – traditional and new energy companies, governments and financiers – the Financial Times and WEC’s Investment Opportunities in Clean Energy Businesses seeks to reconcile the vision of tomorrow’s energy landscape with the practical realities of today’s energy resources and is based on the very latest energy research.

Speakers confirmed so far for the summit include:

“I am very delighted to work with a leading business media partner like the Financial Times on the organisation of an annual conference. I am convinced that all partners will benefit hugely from this cooperation,” said Gerald Doucet, Secretary General of WEC.

“The Financial Times, one of the primary news sources for the global energy industry, is delighted to be partnering with the World Energy Council for this summit. The energy sector is of huge importance to the global business community, reflected by the volume of award winning editorial coverage on this subject that the Financial Times produces daily, both in print and online,” said Ben Hughes, Deputy CEO and Global Commercial Director of the Financial Times.
