India’s Welspun Energy to Invest in Kenya, South Africa

Welspun Energy is planning to invest in solar and wind projects over the next five years, and the company is looking into renewable energy opportunities in South Africa and Kenya. Co-founder and managing director Vineet Mittal told news sources that South Africa and Kenya are great potentials for the company’s renewable energy expansion based on country regulations and financial structures.

Currently, the company has about 30 MW of installed solar capacity and expects to add another 80 MW by the end of 2012. Welspun hopes to have 1 GW of wind and 500 MW of solar capacity by 2014.
