ENI entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) last week with Egypt’s state-owned natural gas firm EGAS. The MoU is for a feasibility study to apply last generation production technologies to some power plants in Egypt.
The feasibility study will focus on the use of combined cycle technology used in ENI’s plants in Italy. The application of technologies envisaged, according to the MoU, will lead to energy savings of more than 20% and bring significant environmental benefits.
If a project move evolves from the MoU, part of the saved natural gas will be used to cover the costs of eventual implementation of the project.
