Sierra Leone to Revive Bankasoka Hydropower Plant

Sierra Leone is looking to break ground for the construction of a small-scale hydropower plant on its Bankasoka River this week. The European Union had initially expressed interest in getting involved in the project, but the country instead opted to get China onboard.

The project is expected to produce 1 MW of energy with the help of a UNIDO-led team comprised of engineers from China and the Energy Resources Institute of India (TERI). The project is expected to be online in 2013.
