Algeria Hopes to Install 20 GW of RE by 2030

Under Algeria’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Program, about 22 GW of power generating capacity will be installed via renewable energy sources by 2030. Companies like ABB, Centrotherm, Eurosol, Siemens, and WEG are already investing in the country’s RE market. Last year, large monetary agreements were signed with with Sonelgaz and Socièté Nationale de l’Electricité et du Gaz (National Society for Electricity and Gas).

“Algeria aims to be a major actor in the production of electricity from photovoltaic and solar power as it considers this source of energy as an opportunity and a lever for economic and social development, particularly through the establishment of wealth and job-creating industries,” says Kahina Behloul, manager with Eurl fairtrade expo.
