Aggreko is active throughout East Africa, and now the company is creating a new hub in South Africa marking its fourth depot in the country.
The latest opening will help Aggreko service the shipping, refining, and other industries in the Western Cape. It has invested about $19 million in South Africa with plans of venturing into Namibia and Botswana. The group has a base capacity of 9 GW, or about 25% of Eskom’s 40 GW generating capacity, supporting power utilities in nearly 50 countries.
The UK company has helped Tanzania and Uganda in recent years with back-up emergency generators to help combat the increasing local electricity demand.
