Norwegian RE Firm Files Bankruptcy

Renewable Energy Corp. ASA (REC) has filed for bankruptcy for its only manufacturing unit in Norway. The group has halted production of silicon wafers at the facility earlier. The company that said in April it would close REC Wafer Norway AS’ unit expects over $67 million of costs from the bankruptcy.

REC said that the bankruptcy of its Norwegian unit will not affect its solar and silicon sales, and that it would continue to manufacture polysilicon in the US.
