The trade war over solar manufacturing between the US and China is heating up as China’s Ministry of Commerce announced that six renewable energy projects in the US are illegally subsidized and violate the World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations.
On the Ministry’s website, the entity said that the six projects in five states are “distorting normal international trade” under the WTO’s General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. The projects include a solar power rebate program in Massachusetts, wind power manufacturing incentives in Ohio, and unidentified renewable energy projects in California, New Jersey, and Washington state.
The Asian government did not say that it would seek WTO arbitration, but did urge the US to stop the programs.
