Sudan became Ethiopia’s newest power client after Djibouti began pumping in 35-MW of Ethiopian electricity for $1.5 million.
The 230-kV Ethiopia-Sudan transmission line, the Gedaref-Galabat, is now exporting 100 MW of power to Sudan for around $4.2 million. The power from its neighbor will help Khartoum decrease dependency on its thermal power generating systems.
