EDF Commissions Texan Spur Wind Project

EDF Renewable Energy, EDF Energies Nouvelles’ US subsidiary, announced the commissioning of Spinning Spur wind project, in Texas, with an installed capacity of 161 MW.

The wind power plant comprised 70 2.3 MW turbines manufactured by Siemens generating sufficient electricity to supply approximately 50,000 average homes. Spinning Spur represents the thirtieth wind power plant of the company in the US, but the first in Texas, the state which leads the nation in installed wind capacity, due to robust wind resources and business friendly environment.

The wind power plant will deliver electricity for the benefit of Southwestern Public Service Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Xcel Energy, under a 15-year PPA. EDF Renewable Services, will service the balance-of-plant during the turbine warranty period.
