Saudi Arabia is a world leader in desalination, but the country is looking to capitalize on its vast amount of solar potential. Local company Advanced Electronics Company (AEC) and Germany’s KACO signed a MoU to develop new business opportunities focusing on PV inverters to tap the MENA market.
The companies hope to establish a manufacturing facility in the country as well as a customer support and maintenance center at AEC’s Riyadh office.
The proposed King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE) strategy renewable procurement program will be among the largest sustained efforts of this kind in the world, expected to result in over 54 GW of energy by 2032.
