German Plans for Solar Plant in Upper Egypt, Italy Moving In

Egypt has discussed establishing renewable energy projects to power Kom Ombo, an agricultural town in Upper Egypt known for ancient Temple of Kom Ombo. The country’s minister of electricity and energy Ahmed Imam confirmed on March 30, after meeting with a delegation from various German renewable energy companies, that a solar PV plant was in the pipeline for the area.

In December Egypt’s prime minister Hisham Kandil said the government was looking to establish more renewable energy projects to help decrease unemployment.

Meanwhile, the minister of industry and foreign trade Hatem Saleh announced that 25 new Italian factories are coming to Egypt to do business which could include energy companies.
