Ousted Central African Republic President Blames Neighboring Chad

The Central African Republic’s recently ousted president has placed the blame on neighboring country, Chad, for orchestrating his removal. Francois Bozize told the BBC that Chadian special forces led the final operation in March’s rebellion that forced him to flee to Cameroon.

Chad denied the allegations and plans for an emergency regional summit on CAR. The former president requested to attend the meeting, but was denied.

The Seleka rebel group seized power after a peace deal saw Bozize step down. "On Saturday March 23 we had neutralized Seleka forces but overnight into Sunday 24, we knew that there had been support from an African country, which I inevitably believe was Chad," Bozize, who fled to Cameroon after the rebellion, told the BBC French Service. Thirteen South African soldiers were killed in the clashes in the capital which sparked controversy in South Africa.
