Overseas Ops Expected to reach 50% of juwi’s Business by 2015

Currently, Germany occupies a major chunk of juwi group’s market; however, that is expected to change as the company plans for about 50% of its overall performance to be generated from overseas operations by 2015.

“Last year we installed 321 MW in solar and 314 MW in wind power all over the globe. With 350 MW of installed capacity in Germany alone, juwi was in the pole position among all German project developers”, says CFO Martin Winter, who has been in charge of juwi’s finances since Mid-2012. In addition, the previous year has been the most successful wind year in the company’s history.

In mid-February, juwi broke ground on its first solar park in South Africa, also representing the country’s first EPC project. The German manufacturer completed its first project in Egypt: a solar power plant with four small wind turbines and a battery storage unit, in November. juwi also provided the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in South Africa with solar energy to generate power for over 20 years shortly after it relocated its headquarters to the heart of Cape Town as a result of the firm expanding its African presence. It’s clear that Africa will be a major influence on the company’s overseas business strategy and goals.
