Namibia’s Power Utility Strikes Solar Deal

Namibia’s NamPower will partner with a private firm to generate solar power to feed into the country’s national grid.

Innovent’s InnoSun, a provider of solar and wind energy technologies, is present in Namibia, Senegal, and Cote d’Ivoire. The Namibian said that the company also has plans to bid on the country’s second desalination plant with an adjacent solar plant. The surplus energy will be sold to NamPower to be transmitted to the national grid.

Innosun has equipped seven communities with solar PV panel kits in the country including 5.4 kW at Penduka, 2.7 kW at Kayec, 2.7 kW at Baby Heaven, Hope Village’s 10.8 kW, and 2.7 kW at the Community Center in Mariental.
